2）个人觉得不一定,要结合语境来看.the other表示特定范围中两者中的另一个,而other表示两者或两者以上的另一个.
3）当然可以!而且一般情况下常用save sb.from,这里用out of应该是强调的作用.
4）walking by更强调从旁边经过,说明两者距离近,而walk past则仅仅指走过,句中我看到汤姆走过,最好是用walking by较符合情理.但walk past没有什么不可以的,语法和逻辑上都没错,还是得根据语境判断哪个短语好.反正在这句里能互换.
