5.1.7 Labelling
Each individual hydrant and valve shall incorporate a label to designate its function.The
label shall also incorporate a reference number for the purposes of operational
usage/maintenance.
The labels shall be manufactured from engraved stainless steel / traffolyte or similar
material (impact & corrosion resistant).
5.1.8 Flushing of Pipe work System
All seawater fire fighting pipe work shall be flushed and cleaned out on completion of
and before testing and commissioning.A minimum of two days notice shall be given to
the Engineer prior to this operation.

using a foam plastic pig forced through the line by water pressure.A certificate of
completion will not be issued until the Engineer is satisfied that all foreign matter,dirt
etc.is removed from the pipelines.At the Engineers direction,parts of the pipeline may
be flushed in stages.
The new potable water pipework (and the existing 25mm pipework) shall be isolated
from the existing system for the purposes of sterilisation.The pipework system shall be
disinfected generally in accordance with BS6700.
