The Lunar New Year
The Lunar New Year is a great occasion to the Chinese people. It lasts about the first four days of the year, during which people do not work except for the workers on duty. Students do not go to school, and shops are dosed.
Several days before the new year, people begin to prepare. Farmers kitt pigs, sheep, cocks and hens. City dwellers buy meat fish and vegetables. Houses are cleaned couplets are posted on the doors. Colourful lanterns are hung at the gate.
On the eve of the new year, each family has its members gatherd together and eats a family reunion dinner. After the meal they watch TV until the clock strickes twelve. Then every family sets off long strings of small firecrackers and other fire works to welcome the new year. On the first day of the new year, almost everyone is dressed in his or her best. When people meet on the way, they say to each other "Happy New Year". Friends and relatives pay new year calls and gives presents to each other. Children indulge themselves in games.
Spring Festival ,known as the Chinese New Year, is the most important holiday in China.From late January to early February,Chinese people are busy preparing for the New Year.They clean their houses ,have their hair cut,and buy new clothes .Jiaozi or dumpling is most popular.To those who live far away from their home,this festival is also a framily reunion occasion.
And they often go back home to celebrate the festival with their family.The first day of the new year is the time when people visit their friends adn wish each other good luck in the new year.
On New Year's Eve, our class had a party. The atmosphere was good. It was out of the ordinary from the very begining. The boy student from one bedroom gave an unusual performance. We saw a boy named Li Xinmin turn off all the lights in a sudden snap. Then with three resounding crow of a cock echoing in the hall, the hall was again brightly lit in a snap.
Then, the representative of the bedroom Zhu Guozhang asked us to guess a line of a poem related to the above situation. He added that Li Xinmin alone was born in the year of the dog and the other three were all born in the year of the chicken. They left us all in confusion. And it was our monitor who was quickwitted. He shouted our, "The day breaks as the cock crows three times at dawn." The hall After that, they had another item. This time Li Xinmin was placed in the middle of the circle. While he was standing there, the other three stood around him, each bowing down to him at an angle of 120 degrees. It was an idiom. This time I got it right:"The dog stands out among a group of chickens.
The spring festival is the tradition festival in China.It is the same as the christmas day in the west country,it is welcome the new year.
It is the day that the families get together.
The spring festival is usually in the February ,sometimes in January.In the spring festival,every family all paste the lucky inscriptions,they fire the cracker,they eat the dumplings.The day before the new year's first day is the new year's eve,same as the christmas eve,all the families get together to have the new yaar's dinner,wishes each other,talk about the wishes about the new year.Small children will receive the money given to children as a lunar new year gift.
Yesterday,we didn't have cars.But today we have.Yesterday,we didn't have TV sets.But today we have.Yesterday we didn't have computers.But today we have.During the hundreds of years,how fast the world has changed!That's really a myth.
Though the new world brings us a convenient life.It also brings more problems.For example,population,resources ,environment and so on.
We know that the world's population is growing faster and faster. It's more than 6 billion now.It's a very big number.We can say the number of world's population is like the number of the stars in the universe.And if it goes on like that,I can't image what will happen.
As the second problem,the world is short of resources now.In daily life,we need water,rock oil,coal and other things.Day after day,the resources disappear fast.And they won't appear.Because most of them are not renewable resources.
The third problem is environment.Everyone talks about it.The weather is hotter and hotter .That means we pollute the environment seriously.Our cars make the air dirty.Old batteries make the soil poisonous.Waste water makes clean water dirty.So we don't have fresh air,fecund soil and pure water.Oh,no.Stop polluting!
Now we human beings should face the new challenge .We must think more about our mother earth.Remember:We don't have another earth!
