Hello everyone. Today I’m here to give you all a speech. That’s really my honor. And maybe you’ll be more interested in my topic, because it’s really popular with us and closed to our lives. It’s called, here, “We were all Born This Way”.
As you know, Born This Way is the name of my idol Lady Gaga’s new album. So first, I’d like to say something about her to you.
When Gaga was young, she studied in the most famous and expensive exclusive school in New York City. But at that time, she was really normal among the students. Gaga didn’t study best, didn’t have a pretty rich family, didn’t have any special points. No one knew her but always played jokes on her, laughed at her, even bullied her. From the program “Inside the Outside” she said that even there was a time when she was thrown into a garbage bin by several boys and was laughed at terribly. All the other girls just laughed at her with the boys, looked down on her and went away without saying a word. She felt so embarrassed and blue but couldn’t do anything. She had got to keep the shame and the chagrin in her heart.
However, Gaga has her original dream. She once went to a vocal concert at Medison Square Garden with her mom and saw the famous and excellent singers perform on the stage wonderfully. At that time, she said to herself, ”I really want to be the one who on the stage one day and let all the people in New York, in America, even in the world see my own magnificent show! ” The seed of the dream was sown in her mind since then and grew so fast that she couldn’t wait to fight for her dream. Long after that, she was admitted to New York University Tisch School of Art. Then she met Space Cowboy, Flo Rida, Akon and gave the first album “The Fame” as a surprising and incredible present to the world. Now, she has become one of the most popular and influential female singers in the world. So many Monsters are crazy about her perfect songs and colorful but miserable experience.
I told this story to you all not because I want to show how wonderful Lady Gaga is. I just want you to know Gaga isn’t successful all the time. She has her own difficulties, she has her own low life. But she can always hold on to her dream and never give up. That’s the spirit of Gaga. It’s also the reason why I admire her.
So it’s also with us. Among all the students, not only in Class Ten, but in Grade One, in NO.1 Senior High School. It’s true that there are some students who have some disadvantages maybe on personalities, abilities or background. But we were all born this way. We all have two eyes, a nose and a mouth. We all know one plus one is two. We all eat rice, meat and vegetables. We are the same. So these words are given to those students who have some untold difficulties in their families or in their studies, and those who are kind of, maybe, kind of boastful. Whether life’s disabilities, left you outcast bullied or teased. Rejoice and love yourself today, ‘Cause there isn’t any level between you and me. And now we are in Class Ten, it only shows that in the past few years we really studied harder than others, and we got a high mark in the senior school entrance examination. It’s because of our hard working, not because we were born to be advanced by others.
Everyone has a dream. Maybe it’s big or small. Maybe it’s easy or difficult to achieve. But as long as you are long for it, as long as you’d like to fight for it. Parental separation, death of loved ones, the examination failure, or even not good at communication. These things can’t stop us at all. Don’t think about others. Just pursue your dreams unwaveringly. No one will laugh at you. No one will stand in the way of you. Because we’re not born to be laughed at. We’re not born to laugh at others. We were all born to survive. We were all born to succeed. We were all born this way!
No matter you’re a boy or a girl. No matter you study well or badly. No matter you’re beautiful or not. No matter you’re gay straight or bi. No matter you’re black white or beige. We are all on the right track because we were born this way, boys and girls. Hold on to your dreams, and don’t care about what others are thinking about, what others are talking about. Just let your dream be deeply rooted in your soul. As Guo Xingchen said, “Yes, we can.” There must be one day, in the depth of your heart. There is a voice saying, “I can be my hero because I was born this way!”
