During the 19th century,music was an important part of the life of African plantation slaves at south areas of America.They were singing songs to express emotions for their life.Both of Jazz and Blues came from that time.
Jazz developed in the latter part of the 19th century.This music of the plantations blended with the European-American musical tradition to create the basis for blues,ragtime,and other musical forms from which jazz evolved.Jazz represents a merging and melding of many different peoples and their heritages.The big bans of Jazz include Early,Boom,Postwar to Present,and Latin Jazz.
The blues was an important influence on the development of jazz.Blues songs expressed the stories and emotions of African-Americans at the beginning of the 20th century.The blues were not only a type of music,but also a state of mind and way of life for many African-Americans during this time.
Compare to blues,Jazz has three different features.First of all,Jazz is a mixture of many types of music; secondly,it has long time development; thirdly,it based on European-American cultures,but blues based on African-American cultures.
In conclusion,music is an important part in African plantation slaves’ life.Both Jazz and Blues is a type of music to express emotions of them.Although Blues has influenced the development of Jazz,Jazz still has some different features compare to Blues.
