题目：Before being simplified, the instructions for computing income tax in Country R were to add 2 percent of one's annual income to the average ( arithmetic mean ) of 100 units of Country R's cerrency and 1 percent of one's annual income. Which of the following represents the simplified formula for computing the income tax, in Country R's cerrency, for a person in that country whose annual income is I?
A. 50+(I/200)
B. 50+(3I/100)
C. 50+(I/40)
D. 100+(I/50)
E. 100+(3I/100)
答案选C.

这一题其实不难,只不过题目古怪,也出得不好.R 国的所得税是这样计算的：年薪收入的 2%,再加上年薪收入 1% 与 100 元的平均.（题目说的 Country R's currency,我在这里为了简单,只翻译做“元”.）
这题有很多地方不好.第一,说是 before being simplified,然后就问 simplified formula 是什么.这问得不对.因为在英文里如果说 before being simplified,意思就是说把税收制度简化.这题没有简化税项,而只是把税项从文字翻译为公式,再把公式简化.这是用词不当.
第二,没有必要说 Country R's currency.这样弄得太长.题目已经写得够累赘了,变成这个样子就更难懂.通常出这样的题目时,不是用普通货币单位,就是制造一个简单的新词.
第三,用 I 来做变元非常不好,因为与数字 1 和 L 的小写混淆.根本就没有必要用 I.难道不可以用 x

总之,这是一个很悲剧的Gmat的题目.
