no matter what 与whatever的区别
no matter what 是复合连词,用来引导让步状语从句,其中的what 是代词或形容词,在从句中充当主语、宾语和表语、或者定语.
　　whatever 是连接性代词性和形容词,既可以引导让步状语从句,也可以引导名词性从句.同 what一样,whatever 在从句中充当主语、宾语、表语或定语.
　　由是可知,如果 whatever引导的是让步状语从句,可以用no matter what 取代；如果引导的是名词从句,则不能用 no matter what 取代.例如：
　　状语从句
　　Whatever happens, we'll meet here tonight.
　　 ——No matter what happens,we'll meet here tonight.
　　 （ 不管发生什么事情,我们今晚都在这儿碰头.）
　　Whatever the difficulties are, nothing can stop our advance. 【表语】
　　 ——No matter what thedifficulties are, nothing can stop our advance.
　　 （不论有多少困难,都不能阻挡我们前进.）
　　Whatever you may read, read it carefully.
　　 ——No matter what happened,he would not say a word.
　　 （无论出什么事,他都会守口如瓶.）
　　Whatever book you may read, read it carefully.
　　 ——No matter what book youmay read, read it carefully.
　　 （不论你读什么书, 总要读得仔细.）
