Dear Sirs,• It gives us much pleasure to advise you that the 500 dozen shirts under Order No.HAC86 packed in cartons were shipped on board S.S.Fengqing on July 25 to be transshipped at Antwerp.We shall appreciate it if you will inform us of the condition of packing as soon as the consignment arrives at your end.In regard to packing the goods in question in cartons,we wish to give you our comments as follows:• 1.Packing in cartons prevents skillful pilferage.As the trace of pilferage will he more in evidence,the insurance company may be made to pay the necessary compensation for such losses.• 2.Cartons are quite fit for ocean transportation,and they are extensively used in our shipments to other ports to the entire satisfaction of our clients.• 3.The cartons are well protected against moisture by plastic lining.Shirts packed so are not so susceptible to damage by moisture as those packed in wooden cases.• 4.Since cartons are comparatively light and compact,they are more convenient to handle in loading and unloading.Besides,they are not likely to be mixed with wooden cases while in transport or storage,so the rate of breakage is lower than that of wooden cases.• We are awaiting your further comments.
