The Danes are the happiest and most satisfied among the people of European countries.This comes from a survey of 90countries undertaken by Erasmus University in the Dutch city of Rotterdam .
Experts of the survey team explained that the Danes feel happy because they see their country as ome of the best organized countries in the world,with “competent and incorrupt leaders”.High levels of personal freedom and mutual tolerance were other factors.
But yunger Danes could take a more pessimistic view.They are not allowed to marry foreigners from countries outside the EU and bring them into Denmark until they are 25.The strict rule om innigration was introduced about three years ago.
The survey has also found that the Danes appear unwilling to admit feelings of discontent.The answers to the question “How are you ”are expected to be “Fine” “Great” “Wonderful”or the like.
Being dissatisfied with one’s life is simply not popular at the moment .
When the Danes face the darker side of their lives,the often respond with irony and jokes.One of the common jokes about the Danes distaste for mimigrants and the high divorce rates goes like this:
“We are amazed at the immigrants with their many children and the immigrants are amazed at our children with their many parents”.
