Olympic and Peace
Ladies and gentlemen.
It’s known to all that Beijing will hold the 29th Olympic games.Bidding for the Olympic Games,in a way,is an image-creating undertaking.And I believe Beijing will make his words true.” New Beijing New Olympic”.But today,the topic of my lecture is the Olympic and Peace.Maybe it’s hard to describe the relationship between them.But Olympic ,the largest sports event in the worl,needs peace!
Let’s review what’s Olympic!Please (point to the screen)
The fist Olympic game was hold in Althea in 1896 with the help of Piers Coubertin.The major of Olympic “Higher,Faster,Stronger” was also be raised.The desire of peace has a place to be overweighed.(The picture in screen)
however,it’s unlucky that Olympic suffered from the 20th century which is a century full of war and cruel.
The World War I,one of the most brutal wars in the history of humans(screen of World War I) .In 1916 the 6th Olympic which should be hold in Berlin canceled because of the war.The Olympic torch was fired the first time in honor of the dead solider in the war (picture in screen).and IOC also moved to Lausanne in case of the damage!Olympic passed through the early 30 years without peace .
But modern Olympic torch relay would also like to thank the creation of Nazi Germany:Before the Berlin Olympic Games in 1936,with the instruction of Hitler,who is in the extreme worship in ancient Greece and the culture of Sparta,the President of Berlin Olympic organization Dr.Cale Diyem mixed two of the ancient Greek custom together,creating a ceremony of Olympic torch relay
July 20,1936,in Nazi Germany arrangement,The first Olympic torch was fired.But it was unfortunately that Berlin Olympic was covered by a huge dark cloud named Fascism.Until now lots of historians call the Olympic in 1936 a notorious Olympic Games.
Another Olympic game was cancelled:1940.The 12th Olympic game which used to be hold in Tokyo,Japan was also dropped.I think everybody knows the reason.
War is evil,taking millions of lives.
Olympic used to get rid of War.Do you all know?The ancient Olympic lasted 1168 years and Athlete had have Olympic for 293 times.Since the ancient Greece signed an agreement which is no fighting during the Olympic.it was ordered for about thousands of years.Modern Olympics need it.After the 1970 Olympic game in Munich.(慕尼黑惨案的图片与报道).We need peace especially during the Olympic.
After all of these political stuff Olympic Games have met many boycotts,for instance,in 1980 Moscow Olympic Games,due to Russia aggress to Afghanistan the Games were suffered two-fifths of the country's boycott,as well as the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics,the Soviet Union in retaliation for the resistance of those countries,led dozens of countries at the WTO,refused to participate in the Los Angeles Olympic Games.(莫斯科奥运会的吉祥物在闭幕式上留下的眼泪,美国洛杉矶市市长发表的宣言)
All of these conflict made people think about what they do and how to do it to have peace.Since Olympic is a gather of mankind’s,which shouldn’t have anything unharmonious.we needs fix up it(the athletes of North and south Korea hold hands each other in the opening of Athlete Olympic).and this.2004 Olympic in Athens,Greece,The Athenians set the Olympic slogan” Welcome Home”.It’s a yearning for peace.Isn’t it?
Olympic,which Condensate human dreams and passion,and it needs peace,a permanent peace!
