Famous Chinese atheletes include Liu Xiang,Yi Jianlian,Yao Ming and Tian Liang.Liu Xiang,a track and field athelete,did the Chinese proud by breaking the world record for 110 hurdle race.His passion for the track,his love for his own country and people,and his easy personality have made him an international sports icon.All the more admirable about him is his cool stance on fame.He never appears arrogant or superior to anyone even after he has gained such international recognition and fame.However,too much publicity and media attention may have had some adverse effects on out beloved athelete.Liu Xiang carries with him high expectations from the Chinese people,faces fierce competition from his international counterparts,and has to manage his time well between training,news conferences,and being alone.During the 2008 Summer Olmpics,the whole nation was saddened when Liu Xiang had to quit the race due to inexplicable injuries.The tears on his face showed how reluctant he was to leave the race,how sorrowful he was for failing the people.But we never blamed him.We stood behind him and would support him all the way,because what's important about being an athelete is not how many medals you can bring,but how many lives you can touch.
