1840年,鸦片战争敲开了中国紧锁的大门,西方的先进文化思想也由此进入近代的中国.1843年西方传教士麦斯都等人在上海成立墨海书馆,这是外国传教士在中国设立的最早的编译、出版机构,墨海书馆存在期间翻译出版了大量的西方著作,对中国近代的西学东渐和中国社会近代化等影响匪浅.虽然广度和深度有限,但毕竟开了先河,对近代中国人视野的开阔、认知空间的扩大起了重要作用.本文主要从墨海书馆的翻译工作入手,探究其为近代中国的翻译事业做出的贡献和产生的影响,全面认识墨海书馆在中国近代西学东渐道路上的重要地位.

The year of 1840,china had shocked by the First Opium War which also the first time chian had to be open to the outside world,as while,the advanced western thought came into china from this moment.As we all know,the first translate and edit organization had found in china with the clerics came in.And same of them such as miles and others estabilshed shanghai mohai library in 1843.The mohai library had translated amount of western writtings,which deeply infulenced china learning into be western and the modern history of china.
Although the impact could be very limited,it was a good begining of modern history of china and also helped lots of china people open eyes to reunderstand the new world and brand new knowledge.
This book begins with the translation part of mohai library,it trys to explorate the great impact and contribution on morden history of china translation,to totally understand the irreplaceable point of the morden history which china began to accept the world as well.
