My experience with the Hong Kong immigrants in Canada is most of them are skilled labour applicants,and since their university qualification is recognized in Canada,their application and job hunting are much easier than those from China.
This is true their English is better than those from China.They can read and write English well.It is true just like Chinese,Hong Kong immigrants speak English with an accent.
One interesting observation,people from China like to go to USA.People from Hong Kong in general are satisfied staying in Canada,which is the reason in USA there are more from China and Taiwan than from Hong Kong.
