Dear Editor,
I have read,with great interest,your article on “Population Rising” dated DATE MONTH YEAR.Truly,with the rapid development of the country’s economy and population growth,cities have continued to expand.Although this is potentially good for our country’s development,it also poses a great problem.With good economic development,the standard of living has greatly improved and this has opened many opportunities for the rapid development of all industries.In turn,this can attract more foreign investments in our country.However,expansion of cities can also cause damage to agricultural lands,environmental pollution and extinction of wild life.Therefore,law and regulations should be enforced to ensure that the industries cut down on the release of pollutants (e.g.carbon dioxide,heavy metals,sulfur dioxide,etc.) that can threaten the environment and wild life.Furthermore,the expansion of the cities should be well planned so as not to encroach on forests and agricultural lands.Illegal land clearing or deforestation should be greatly punished.Hopefully,these suggestions are already under implementation because it would really be disappointing if mankind’s development has caused the destruction of mother earth.
