I have just received a letter from my brother,Tim.He is in Australia.He has been there for six months.Tim is an engineer.He is working for a big firm and he has already visited a great number of different places in Australia.He has just bought an Australian car and has gone to Alice Springs,a small town in the centre of Australia.He will soon visit Darwin .From there,he will fly to Perth.My brother has never been abroad before,so he is finding this trip very exciting.

Aeroplanes are slowly driving me mad.I live near an airport and passing planes can be heard night and day.The airport was built during the war,but for some reason it could not be used then .Last year,however,it came into yse .Over a hundred people must have been driven away from their homes by the noise.I am one of the few people left.Sometimes I think this house will be knocked down by a passing plane.I have been offered a large sum of money to go away ,but I am determined to stay here.Everybody says I must be mad and they are perbably right.

飞机正在慢慢使我发疯!我住在飞机场附近,飞过的飞机的声音整日都可听到.这个飞机场是在战争期间建成的,但是由于某些原因,从那之后它没被使用.可是,就在去年,它重新投入使用了,大约100多人由于噪音的缘故必须被迫离开他们的家.我就是这一小部分必须离开的人中的一员.有时,我认为这所房子将会被过往的飞机撞倒.我已经被提供了一大笔钱用于离开,但是我下定决心留在这儿.每个人都说我一定是疯了,或许他们都是对的!
