我校地处工业比较发达的东北塘镇农坝村,这里是镇里的工业园区.前几年,工厂像雨后春笋在农坝村安营扎寨,铸件厂、橡塑厂、印染厂等好多企业虽然是本村的一些老牌企业,也是村里的骨干企业,起步早,根底深,但都是污染比较严重的企业,是废气、废水、废物等污染源的诞生地.在这里,以前我们常常可以看到一些工厂上空,出现一条条“黄龙”,据同学们后来查资料了解到这些“黄龙”里可能隐藏着剧毒的红棕色气体——二氧化氮.它的毒性约为众所周知的一氧化硫毒性的10倍.它能吸收空气中的水分生成硝酸酸雾,刺激人的呼吸器官,轻则引起慢性气管炎,重则经过一系列的光化学反应,是产生癌症的发病因素.因此,人们称它为“污染大气的毒龙”.在农坝村的北面,是一条横贯东西的锡北运河,自从沿河造起了印染厂后,河水就一直没清澈过,河里的水经常脏得不能洗东西,也养不了鱼虾河蚌,老百姓为此没少埋怨过.
为了教育和帮助青少年学生充分认识当前人类所处的环境,从小养成保护环境,美化环境的意识.我校近几年不仅加强了对学生这方面的宣传教育,还多次邀请校外辅导员来校宣讲,举办环保知识图片展,开展大中队主题活动,带领学生走出校门,到社会上走访群众,实地调查和考察等活动,使更多的学生亲眼目睹了我村的环境变化和整治状况.同学们也为此写出了多篇调查小报告、小论文,建议书,印发给家长和群众.表明了当今小学生对本地环保工作的关心和保护自身身心健康的强烈愿望.
